    Details

Our New Balance 1080 neutral runner has been our go-to running shoe ever since it replaced the 1064. With great cushioning, good arch support, and low weight, this shoe has been popular right from version 1 thru to this new update, version 3. Like the V2, the V3 features an 8mm heel-to-toe drop to keep this shoe more minimalist, helping you run with a more natural gait (without making it feel like you're walking up a hill). This shoe continues its weight loss, coming down to 10.15 from its previous 10.5 oz. As clichéd as it sounds, it does feel like you’re not even wearing shoes.

The big question a lot of people will ask about this shoe is the change to the PL-1 shoe last. Natural PL-1, a slight revision in the PL-1 last, makes the shoe feel like it has the exact same amount of room at every point it touches your foot. Where the 1080v2 was close (but not tight) at the outside of the forefoot, the V3 feels like it “expects” your foot to be bigger there, and runs a bit wider. The arch support feels more natural, and the toebox has a bit more space. Overall, these shoes feel like they’ve got enough room to fit an orthotic, but snug enough all over that runners who like to wear trainers to a marathon will find them secure. Bottom line, we love the fit and feel of this shoe.

I'm a big guy and cushioning is very important to me and on top of that I need a shoe that fits my orthotics. The 1080 does no disappoint! It meets all my needs and is allowing me to continue on my goal of running a marathon.

I wore the 879, 881, 882, 883 etc on the SL-2 last for the last 20 years or so. The latest rendition of this shoe the does not fit the way the older versions had. I prefer a wider toe box and a narrow heel but the 840 version fits me way to narrow in the heel, so this means that I could not fit the 840 as the plastic in the heel was designed for a narrow heel for me. I have Neutral gait so the New Balance 1080v3 is a nice improvement. These fit much like a snug slipper not loose but not tight and after a couple of weeks of runs I have no complaints about the fit. Compared to the previous 881's these are significantly lighter shoes. I'm not entirely convinced that they are going to have the staying power of the older heavier shoes but they are a joy to run in right now. So if you are looking for a replacement for the 881 series because your feet are better suited to shoe boxes then shoes these are definitely worth a try.

      Customer Service Comments:
Wonderful customer service. I ordered these over the internet and was contacted personally by the store manager to help me find the appropriate shoe. The free shipping/return policy makes this a no hassle try. The running room wanted to charge me $20 for every pair I had ordered in to try on and had no suggestions for appropriate fit for me. Hopefully NB won't change my shoes on me for another 20 years.

I love my old red ones but I have to say to say I love me new ones even more. A lot more cushion then before, and definitely lighter weight. The purple is my favorite. O ya and it fits pretty true to size, I highly recommend them.

The fit is pretty standard, gives a little room in the front just like they said on the video. I highly reccomend for for all road runners out there!
